Gaspar Challenge Matches

Gaspar Challenge Rules

  1. Both players must have played in at least 1 Gaspar Golf tournament, and has either a conditional Quota or an official Quota.
  2. Each player may play in a MAXIMUM of 4 Gaspar Challenges per month.
  3. Each player may play the same player a MAXIMUM of 2 times per month.
  4. Each player may play the same player a MAXIMUM of 1 time per day.
  5. Every Gaspar Challenge match is handicapped, unless you and your opponent have the same exact Quota number.  To figure your Gaspar Challenge handicap for a match, subtract the person's Quota who is lower from the player whose Quota is higher.  For example, if Player A has a Quota of 35, and Player B has a Quota of 20, subtract 20 from 35 to get a difference of 15.  The player with the lower Quota receives 1 stroke on the 15 hardest holes on the course where the Gaspar Challenge is played, based on the scorecard hole handicaps.
  6. All Challenges use the players' main tournament quota number.
  7. Anyone can challenge any other player in the Gaspar Rankings, no matter who is ranked higher.  The other player does not have to accept.  Want to move up in the Gaspar Cup?  Play more Gaspar Invitationals and Gaspar Challenges.
  8. You may now play a Challenge against anyone in a league round or tournament, not just in your same group.
  9. Gaspar Challenge Matches will be played under Match Play rules, where a player may win a hole by shooting a lower score on that hole.  There are NO CARRYOVERS, like in Skins.  If the two players tie on the hole, it is just that, a tie.
  10. A match is over when there are not enough holes remaining for the losing player to at least tie the winning player.  Scoring is like this:  If player A wins the first hole, he/she is 1-up.  If he/she is up by 3 holes when arriving at the 16th tee, the match is "Dormie," meaning the losing player cannot win.  He/she can only tie.  If they tie on hole 16, the match is over, and the winning score is 3 & 2.
  11. Gaspar Challenge winners are awarded 4 Gaspar Cup points, and the loser is awarded 2.  If there is a tie, both players receive 3 points.
  12. We use a max score in Gaspar Challenges, which is 3 over par for any hole.  If both players have maxed the hole, the hole is pushed, regardless if it's a handicaped hole.  As mentioned before, if you pick up your ball, you have conceded the hole to your opponent.  You may do this anywhere on any hole.
  13. Please review these rules so that you are familiar and comfortable with how we play Gaspar Challenges.
