Your Points Quota number is what you're trying to beat when you play in a Gaspar Invitational. You receive points based on a modified Stableford scoring system. Points Quotas are also used to handicap the one-on-one Gaspar Challenges, which are played in match play format.
The Points Quotas adjust after each tournament. Your Points Quota will increase by 1/2 of any amount by which you exceed your existing quota, rounded up to the next number. For example, if your quota is 22, and you achieve 26 points in the Gaspar Invitational (exceeded by 4 points), your quota will go up to 24 for the next tournament, an increase of 2. If you exceed by 1, you go up by 1. If you exceed by 3, you go up by 2. Half of 3 is 1.5, so you go up by 2. Remember, we round up.
If you miss your quota by 1 or more points, you drop by 1 point.
If you shoot your exact number or exceed it by 1/2 point, you remain the same for the next month. If you miss by 1/2 point, you will stay the same also. Only players who exceed or miss by at least 1 point will move up or down.
MISSING EVENTS: If you have played 2+ events, and have an established Points Quota, your Quota will adjust normally as you play events. If you miss more than 3 events in a row, your Quota will adjust upwards from 1 point to a max of 2 points if you miss 5+ events in a row.
Miss 3-4 tournaments: +1
Miss 5 or more tournaments: +2
If you miss 6-11 events, you will not be eligible to play in the Quota Game in your first event back. If you miss 12+ events, you will not be eligible to play in the Quota Game in your first 2 events back, and may have your Quota adjusted based on current level of play.
Players can obtain a medical waiver to avoid quota penalties if their absence is due to injury or illness.
NEW PLAYERS: A new player is not eligible to play in the Quota Game until they have played 2 Gaspar Invitationals, thus establishing a Points Quota. This allows you to play in the Quota Game in your third Gaspar Invitational Tournament.
FIRST OFFICIAL POINTS QUOTA: New players are assigned a starting Quota before their first event, based on their handicap or average score for 18 holes. After they have played 2 events, we assess how they performed in their first 2 events against this conditional Quota. We then add 5 points to their Quota to give them their first Official Points Quota. When they play in their 3rd Gaspar Invitational Tournament, they are eligible to win prize money in the Quota Game. Like all players, their Quota number adjusts up or down after every event, based on how they did against their Quota.
