Black Diamond's Quarry Course is always a highlight of any Gaspar Golf season, and it didn't disappoint in our 1st event of the 9th Season.  The course was in mint condition, and the greens were not crazy fast like we had in the Championship at Lakewood National.  The weather was beautiful, and we had an awesome Halloween as Rico and Fausto tricked and treated their way around the course to win for the 3rd time each.

Rico "Freakin' Rican Bomber" Velez picked up his 3rd win on the Pirate Golf Tour, and didn't even beat his quota!  The course played extra hard on Sunday, and Rico emerged from the pack to win by shooting an 86 to finish at -1 in the quota game for the A Flight.  He picks up $180 for 1st place.

Fausto, over in the B Flight, showed the course who was boss by shooting an 85 to finish at +8 in the quota game.  Looks like the B Flight players had a much easier time of it, as several players beat their quotas.  Fausto also wins $180 for 1st.

Our A Flight runner-up were Arun "Chopper" Chopra, who played great golf to shoot an 82, and was -2 in the quota game in the A Flight.  He wins $36 for 2nd.  In the B Flight, CJ Collins shot a 92 to beat his quota by 2 points, and also wins $36.

Our Wench, as is typical, was a player in their 3rd tournament, having faced the obligatory 5-point quota adjustment to become eligible for the quota game.  Andy Fustos had a day that many of us did on the Quarry Course, and shot well over his ability.

We have a unique tournament schedule going on, as our rain makeup for the 8th Season Championship got delayed to the week before this tournament.  Also, we turn around and play our 2nd tournament of the 9th Season next Sunday.  That's 3 tournaments in a row, and I don't think we've ever even played 2 in a row.  I greatly appreciate all of those who spend their hard earned money on our tournaments.  Without you, Gaspar Golf doesn't exist.  Golf prices continue to rise, which we all hate.  I'll try and mix in some lower priced tournaments this season.

I forgot to get a group photo, which we do for all shotgun starts.  We didn't do the putting contest either, as I waited too long to get started.  We will do this at Countryside and Ardea in November and December tournaments!

If you haven't signed up yet, we are playing next Sunday at Countryside Country Club in Pinellas County.  This private course has 3 sets of nines, and is a fun layout.  They are part of the Invited family of private golf clubs, which includes local courses like Tampa Palms, Hunters Green and our December tournament host, Ardea in Oldsmar.  We have 28 signed up so far, with 6 days to go.  Let's get to at least 32!
