Donnie "D-Rog" Rogers battled Mike Caporale in a high stakes $50-50-50 Nassau game, and not only came out on top, but won the A Flight quota game for his first Gaspar Invitational win on Saturday at the gorgeous Calusa Country Club.  Over in the B Flight, another first time winner was Michael Serrano "Pepper," who played a great Father's Day weekend round with his son.

Donnie shot a 79, and finished +5 to win the $120 prize money for 1st place.  He also grabbed a skin and a CTP for another $34, for a total of $154 on the day in a small field.  No one has worked harder than Donnie over the past 6+ months.  His quota will go up to a 30 after his win, which is where it should be with his current golf game excellence.  Runnerup was Phillip "Legend" Wilson, who defies his age of 74 to shoot another round in the 70s at 79, and finishing at +3.5 to win $24.  Birthday boy Mike "White Lightning" Caporale, who turned 40 on Friday, earned medalist honors for the tournament by shooting an unlikely 70.  We had the over-under on Cap at 67.

Michael Serrano, the pickleball addict and sometimes golfer, shot an awesome 87 to finish at +7.5, taking home the $120 for 1st place.  His son shot an 81, with 3 skins, including an eagle!  2nd place went to another Michael, "Meteorologist" Michael Hermann, who fired an 83 to finish at +4, earning $24.

The Wench was Danny "Loverboy" Valentin, who might have played his worst round ever.  He shot a 102 to finish -14.5.  Someone needs to do a wellness check on the big man after that round of golf!

• Flight winners - $5 x # of total players in field
• Flight runners up - $1 x # of total players in field
• Skins pot - $5 x # of total players in field
• CTPs - $1 x # of total players in field per CTP

Next month is our much anticipated road trip to Palm Coast, as Team Skulls takes on Team Crossbones in the 2026 Team Championship.  20 players are staying at the Hammock Beach Golf Resort & Spa on Friday and Saturday night, and playing a round on both the Oceanfront (Nicklaus) and Conservatory (Watson) courses.  Practice rounds on Friday on the Conservatory Course will be optional.

We have 2 tournaments left in the season.  In August, we are playing at Lakewood National in Lakewood Ranch, next door to Calusa CC, and in September, we finish the season at Clermont National.  Our Playoffs will be at Lakewood National on October 10-11.
