There was only one foursome that had all the magic on Saturday at Heritage Isles, as the A and B Flight winners and runners up all came from this group of pirates!
In the A-Flight, former Bushwhacker Clyde Jensen shot a 78 to finish at +2 off his 28 quota. Clyde receives $128 for 1st place, plus $18 for 2 skins, for a total of $146.
Clyde's compadre and cart mate, Lover Boy Danny "Valentino" Valentin came in 2nd, shooting an 83, and finishing a half point behind Clyde at +1.5. Danny receives $32 for 2nd place, plus $18 for 2 skins.
Playing in Clyde & Danny's group, but competing in the B-Flight, it as an all lady pirate affair, as Jen Nichiporuk and Amy Fields took 1st and 2nd place. Jen shot an 84, and finished at +6.5. Jen wins $128 for 1st place, plus $9 for a skin.
Amy "Mouse" Fields shot the low score in the B Flight with an 83, finishing 2nd at +5.5. Amy wins $32 for 2nd place.
Our Wench for the month is the Freakin' Rican Bomber, Rico Velez, who came within a shot of shooting 3 digits with a 99, ending up at a possible Gaspar Golf record -14. Rico gets nothing, and will like it, said Judge Smails. We will bring back the Wench trophy, which shall be carried in shame for the month leading up to the next tournament. We will only have 1 Wench per month, who will be the player in either flight that ends up with the worst score vs their quota.
Other notables were Michael Miller, whose game never falters. He shot the low round of the day at 77 to finish in 3rd place in the A Flight. Our social director and supplier of the best margaritas this side of Rumba in St. Pete, Helen "Wuzy" Wu finished in 3rd place in the B Flight, insuring that the top 3 spots went to lady pirates! Wuzy shot a 90 (tying El Prez on the day) to finish +3.5. Tony "Kingpin" Ambrose was the highest finishing male pirate in the B Flight, finishing in 4th place at +2.5.
Amy Fields outlasted Tony Marino in a sudden death playoff in the Putting Contest, bringing home the prize money to birthday boy, Ted Twombly!
Starting in the next tournament in February, we will use the following payout amounts.
This will make it easy to figure out how much you receive if you win or finish in 2nd place, rather than our old formula that used percentages to determine payouts.
Remember, your tournament quota is independent from your Hump Day and Black Skull quotas, and adjusts after every tournament. If you miss your quota by 1 or more points, you go down 1 point. If you beat your quota by 1-2.5 points, you go up by 1 point. If you beat your quota by 3 or more points, you go up by 2 points. If you finish in 1st place, your quota goes up by 5 points.
We are heading over to Lakeland in February, playing our Lovers & Losers tournament at Huntington Hills, a great course with some nice elevation changes. Sign up early to be guaranteed a spot!
