Gaspar Golf held its annual Gaspar Cup Playoffs at the beautiful Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club on October 15-16, 2022.  18 Pirate qualified for the Playoffs, with 16 competing over a sunny central Florida weekend.  The winds were whipping on Saturday, and calmed on Sunday to provide great conditions for our Championship Round.

Todd "Big Country" Broadbent held onto his Day 1 lead to win the 4th Champion Pirate of the Year title, along with our largest cash prize yet of $1800.  His 88 on Day 1, along with +4 over his Quota, led the field by a half point over "Kingpin" Tony Ambrose's +3.5, who shot an 87.  Day 1 saw 9 of the 16 players shooting over their Quotas, with Bob Swan hitting his number exactly.

Day 2 saw 8 players exceed their Quotas, with Todd at +3 for a 2-day total of +7.  "El Presidente" surged with a +5.5 off his disappointing +1 on Day 1 to get within a half point of 1st place at +6.5.  Tony shot an 88 with a +3, giving him a +6.5.  "Nature Boy" Arnie Rutkis followed up his +2.5 Day 1 total with a +4 to join Tres and Tony in a 3-way tie for 2nd place.

The Pirate crew enjoyed an open bar after Sunday's round in Lake Jovita's clubhouse as the scoring took place.  It was a nice culmination to another fantastic Gaspar Golf season, with the 2022-2023 season right aroun the corner at ChampionsGate on November 19, 2022.
