Some golf courses just seem to fit a certain player's game.  That appears to be the case at Black Diamond Ranch, on their incredible Quarry Course, as Mike Hauch repeated his win from last season on the Quarry Course.  The weather flirted with us for an hour or so, with some drizzles adding to the drama, but play was never haulted, and it became a gorgeous day in Lecanto.  We had 13 brand new Pirates join the krewe, and ended up with a field of 63 players.

Hauch fired an impressive 78 for a 6-over par score.  He topped his 26 Quota by +5, ending up with 31 points.  One of the "Bushwackers," Clyde Jensen, said, "Not so fast," as he tied Hauch with a +5 finish.  They made their way back to the 1st hole, and played a sudden death playoff.  Both hit perfect drives, but Jensen's wedge approach came up short, making bogey.  Hauch hit the green, and 2 putts later, was the winner of our 47th Gaspar Invitational Tournament.  Not only does he wear the title of Jose Gaspar for October 2023, but he grabbed the $396 cash top prize.  Not a bad day of golf!

Clyde Jensen finishes in 2nd place after the playoff, and takes home $132, and the title of Skallywag.  He shot 79, another great score, and was +5 over his 25 Quota.  2nd place was worth $132, covering his tournament fees.

In 3rd place, we had Fausto Diaz, who impressed the field by beating his 13 Quota by +4.5, narrowly missing the sudden death playoff.  He shot 98, breaking 100 on a tough course for our B-flight players.  His win makes him the Deckhand for the month, and he wins $44 in cash.

The last event of our 2022-2023 Gaspar Golf Season gave final rankings to the top 16 players in the Gaspar Cup Points, and solidified our 2023 Playoffs, to be held on October 7-8 at the private East Lake Woodlands in Pinellas County, off Tampa Road past Oldsmar.  We will then hold our 1st event of the 2023-2024 Gaspar Golf Season on 10/14 at ChampionsGate on their National Course.  We look forward to having even bigger fields of players in the new season!
