On a beautiful Sunday morning, the sun was shining, and there was just a gentle breeze blowing, 36 players showed up to play in the December 2019 Gaspar Invitational at Innisbrook Resort, playing the par 70 North Course, called "Baby Copperhead."

The usual suspects were all there, including the top 4 players in the Gaspar Cup chase.  Frank "Former Playboy" Perez, "Trick" Rick Rhodes, Todd "Big Country" Broadbent and yours truly, Tres Fenton, all played, jockying for seeding in the Gaspar Cup Championship.

No one played better than our resident professional, Mike "White Lightning" Caporale, however, as he gave Baby Copperhead a spanking, shooting an impressive 4 under par 66.  From what I understand, Caporale kept driver in the bag most of the day, opting for hybrid or 3 iron off many tees, and hit all but one fairway.  The putter was apparently rolling quite nicely, as he made 5 birdies and just one bogey on the par 70 course.  John Thompson played very well also, shooting a 2 over par 72.

Frank "Flash" Guistiani came back from the last place Wench  trophy a few months back, and had an impressive round to finish in 2nd place, earning the Skallwag title.  In a big surprise, Cindy McGrath, had a tough round, finishing in last place to take home the enfamous Wench trophy.

We had a couple new players join us, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone back out there for the January Gaspar Invitational on 1/11/2020.

In the holiday spirit, we gave away a ton of goodies, including free twosomes to Lake Jovita and the Bayou Club, several sleeves of high end golf balls, some golf towels, a club cleaning brush, a bluetooth speaker for listening to music on the golf course, packs of the best golf tees and a 6-pack of Southern Tier 2 X-Mas beer.  All players will also receive bounce back coupons to play any of the Innisbrook courses for a discounted rate.  Innisbrook gave us 4 gift certificates that allow one player to play for free, and up to 3 players can join him or her for cart fees.  We will give those away at upcoming events!

The Sink the Putt contest pot currently stands at $74.  We had a couple close putts, but the pot rolled over to January!

We need to do a better job picking up the CTP markers after we finish playing golf.  It's always the responsibility of the last group to pick these up.  We had 3 additional par 3 holes we could not award because we did not have the markers turned in.

GASPAR CUP PLAYOFFS

The top 4 players in the Gaspar Cup Chase are Rick Rhodes (1), Frank Perez (2), Tres Fenton (3) and Todd Broadbent (4).  Seed 1 will play seed 4, and seeds 2 and 3 will play each other in the Semifinals.  The winners will face off in the Championship.  Because we started late with the Gaspar Cup pot, we have $74 to be awarded to the Champion.  The Semifinal matches will be played with a $10 wager, and the Championship will be played with a $20 wager.  The Champion will earn a total of $104 in becoming the first ever Gaspar Cup Champion!
