In one of the best individual performances in Gaspar Golf history, Adam Larson fired a 2-over-par 74, with 34-1/2 points, to shatter his Quota of 24 with a +10-1/2 finish.  Larson last won a year and one month ago in the February 2022 event, so he joins the small group of players who have won 2 times on the Pirate Tour.  With a field of 56 players enjoying absolutely perfect weather at Citrus National, Adam took home the $352 1st place prize, and the title of Jose Gaspar for the month of March 2023.  Unfortunately for Adam, his Quota skyrockets to a whopping 30 points, joining the big boys in Gaspar Golf.

One of the true nice guys in Gaspar Golf, Mellow Dave Tomello came within a half point of forcing a sudden death playoff with Big Daddy Larson, shooting a great round of 78, while hitting 31 points.  His double digit finish of +10 solidified 2nd place, and the Skallywag title, worth $117.  He also grabbed a Skin for another $35, and total prize money of $152.

Always recognizable in his wide brim hat, Steven Haubenstock shot a great round at 87, and trailed Dave by only 1-1/2 points at +8.5.  3rd place and Deckhand honors were worth $39.

Our Wench was the unlikely Donald Jensen, who had an uncharacteristicly tough day, shooting a 101, and finishing -11.  Last month's big winner, the Big Pole Bill Kilichowski, sat comfortably in 2nd-to-last at minus 8-1/2 points.  It's unclear how many times he dropped his club after hitting an errant ball at Citrus Hills, and an investigation is underway.

A couple additional shout outs go to a pair of our lady Pirates.  Anne Marie "Bones" Rhodes fired her first round under 100 with a score of 99!  Way to go to a real class act and awesome person.  Also, our Jenny From the Block herself, Jenny Broadbent, lover of bourbon and Big Country, nabbed a Closest-to-the-Pin on #8, hitting it to 5'11-1/2", taking down earlier players, Frank Perez and Steven Haubenstock, by almost 3 feet!

The staff at Citrus National were fantastic, and the layout is great, with gorgeous greens that rolled perfectly all day.  Their superintendent, James Jenkins, GM Scott Yates, and the golf pros on staff did a wonderful job making Gaspar Golf feel very welcome up there.  They are working hard to get the fairways in top shape, and the course should be beautiful when we return again.

Next month, yours truly defends his Green Jacket at the Gaspar Masters at Juliette Falls, one of the most popular events of the year, on April 8.  Monday night begins our annual Monday Night Pirate Golf League, which has moved to Westchase.  A record number of players have said they are joining the league, so it should be a great field every week.
