"Trick" Rick Rhodes joined the 2-time winners club with a great performance at Juliette Falls, an hour and a half north of Tampa, on a stunningly beautiful Saturday on the golf course. Rick's +7.5 win bettered 2 players who had tied for 2nd place, just 1/2 point behind the top. Rick shot 87, and added 52 points to his Gaspar Cup total, getting closer to the top of the season-long leaderboard. His prize money was $346 for 1st place, and he is our April 2023 Jose Gaspar.
We went to the scorecard to break the tie at 2nd at +7, and Josh Hickman came out on top on the 2nd hardest hole. Josh became our Skallywag for the month of April 2023. He shot 69, the lowest round in the field, and added 50 points to his Gaspar Cup total. Mike Hauch takes home 3rd place, and the title of Deckhand. He fired a 79, and also made 50 points in the Gaspar Cup points chase. Both players split the 2nd and 3rd place prize money, which came to $77 apiece. Hauch also made 2 birdies, worth $39 each, for a total payday of $155
Our unfortunate Wench was Bill "Big Pole" Kilichowski, who came in dead last for the 2nd time in 3 months. Ivan Putski aka Killer Kawalski, was battling an injury, so he was heavily medicated with a cocktail that allowed him to limp around the course, shooting triple digits with a 104. On a surprising side note, Amy Fields, Carolyn Card, Cindy McGrath and Helen Wu all had lower scores on the day.
In May, Gaspar Golf returns to Orange County National, playing Crooked Cat, site of the LIV event this month.
