It was a beautiful, yet windy day of putting woes for most of the Pirates on Lake Jovita's North Course in the final Gaspar Invitational Tournament of 2024.  45 players lined up their putts, and then lined up again and again.  There were probably more 3-putts in Gaspar history, and there were also several 4-putts out there on the speedy greens.  I never heard anyone say they had a 5-putt, although it was certainly the day to do it.  We only had 10 players exceed their quotas, 5 hit their quotas on the number, and 30 were under their quotas for the day.  The good thing is that 30 players saw their quotas drop by 1 point for the next tournament!

World class nice guy, Fausto Diaz, won his first tournament in Gaspar Golf by shooting a 90, and beating his 16 quota by 4.5 points to take home the title of Jose Gaspar and $283 in prize money.  He also grabbed a CTP on #17 for an additional $31 for a total of $314 on the day!  Even more importantly, he beat his good friend, Mario Faria, in gross score!

2nd place and title of Skallywag goes to none other than Helen "Wuzy" Wu, who was challenging late for 1st place.  Her score of 98 got her to +2.5 on the day, and earned her $94 in prize money.

We had a tie for 3rd place, and because we didn't make it home with the scorecards, I couldn't compare scores in a tiebreaker, and had to flip a coin.  Peter Jordan shot 83, and he finished +1.5, tied With "Trick" Rick Rhodes, who shot 90.  While Peter earns the title of Deckhand and $31 in prize money, Rick did grab a skin worth $28.

We tried a new putting contest at Lake Jovita, and 2 players made the initial putt to go to the Playoffs.  Peter Jordan and Dan Corson went 3 rounds to break the tie, with both making the shorter putt to go to the 2nd playoff putt, where both missed.  In round 3, Peter lipped out, and Dan sank his putt to take home all the cash!  It was a fun way to end the year in the putting contest, which will be back in January at Ardea Country Club.
